Description
Seeing begins with light refl ecting from an object onto the cornea,
which is a clear fi lm covering the iris and pupil. The light rays are
transmitted from the retina as electrical impulses through the optic
nerve to the brain, where images are recognized. Each part of your
eye involved in the process of seeing is fed by tiny blood vessels that
carry oxygen and nutrients, including antioxidants, to nourish the
eyes and help repair damage caused by overuse and accumulated
exposure to solar radiation.
In traditional herbal medicine, berries, particularly the dark and blue
fruits such as bilberry and blueberry, are recommended for their
antioxidant properties and to promote eye health.
